My first reaction to my surroundings is that this place is gorgeous! The town I’m staying in, Ballina, is about 20 minutes from the high school I’m working at and the drive up to Byron Bay is amazing. It’s a winding road that cuts through the hillside on the coast, and you can see some really incredible sections of beachhead. One big thing that surprised me was the amount of things we have in common with Australia. For instance, they have McDonald’s and KFC, as well as the grocery stores like Aldi and and BP filling stations. The interesting part of that is that Aldi is a German store and BP is British, so I observed first-hand the sort of global market we truly live in.
Zach and I have arrive at Dallas/Ft. Worth International Aiport and are about an hour away from boarding our 19 hour flight to Sydney. Fun fact: in the next day I will have traveled through the majority of the world's time zones. Cheers!
Hey everyone! I just created this blog so that I can keep everyone informed about the amazing experience I will be having in Byron Bay. I'm looking forward to the experience and especially the opportunity to share it with everyone back home. |
